As the Holidays approach our tournament schedule will slow down until after the new year but I have a lot to report. The inaugural Men’s Match Play Championship is going forward & we are down to the final four: Paul Collier & Tim Foley are in one half of the draw & Kirk McCaskill & Rich Reasons in the other half, good luck gentlemen.

The Game at the Ranch was just held & it was a great event. There was a full field of 48 teams except for one late cancellation. Thursday were practice rounds & the Par 3 competition followed by dinner & cocktails. Chef Joey did a great job with some traditional as well as some interesting new choices; I particularly enjoyed the oysters on the half shell & the great wine. The committee chairman, Adam Zuffinetti also arranged some entertaining contests & the event feedback was uniformly positive. Friday & Saturday we had the 5 nine hole matches & most of the 8 flights came down to the final match to determine the winner. Congratulations to the flight winners: Tony Ratto & Dave Barker, Jim Boon & Jack Archie, Dan Comstock & Scott Wilson, Nate Spoelman & Jake Williams, Bob Zamarripa & Ed Mazzetta, John Bailey & Randy McCann, Dan Henderson & Paul Sylvan, & Charlie Muha & Chuck Ciuni. The Game of Champions (the 3 hole Derby) was won by the Ratto team, the low handicappers, over the Dan Henderson team in a chip off with the wild card team of George Scott & Brett Almquist coming in third.

The SCGA Thursday Team Play competition begins in January with Rancho as the defending Champion. Captains Dave Scherer & Lee Johnson will try to organize a successful defense of our title. The Victor Mature Classic will occur after press time so I wish all the Golf Staff the best & good luck to all. Have a great Thanksgiving!
